Adventurous Activities
Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari's

Just 2 hours and 20 minutes from Oiti Boma Lodge, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most spectacular natural wonders. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is often described as the “eighth wonder of the world,” offering breath-taking scenery and some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. Here, you’ll find a dense concentration of animals — from lions and elephants to flamingos that line the crater’s lakeshore. It’s a safari experience unlike anywhere else on earth.

Around 4 hours away lies the legendary Serengeti National Park, famous for its vast savannahs, the Great Migration, and being home to the iconic Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos. The Serengeti also offers countless opportunities to spot cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, and more roaming freely in their natural habitats.

Staying overnight in these world-renowned parks allows you to join early-morning game drives, when wildlife is most active, and to witness unforgettable African sunsets over endless plains. Whether it’s the drama of predator and prey, the beauty of a sunrise over the crater, or the sight of thousands of wildebeest on the move, safaris to Ngorongoro and Serengeti promise once-in-a-lifetime memories.
Mount Meru Trek
For hiking enthusiasts, Mount Meru offers an adventurous alternative to Kilimanjaro, with breath-taking views and incredible biodiversity. Located just outside Arusha within the Arusha National Park, this active volcano rises to 4,566 meters and provides a challenging yet rewarding trek through lush forests, open heathlands, and dramatic volcanic landscapes. Along the way, you’ll encounter wildlife such as colobus monkeys, giraffes, and a variety of bird species.

Reaching the summit rewards hikers with panoramic views over Arusha National Park and, on clear days, a spectacular glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. Whether you choose a multi-day trek or a shorter guided hike on the lower slopes, Mount Meru promises an unforgettable adventure for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.

Arusha Giraffe Centre

Just a short journey from Oiti Boma Lodge, the Arusha Giraffe Centre offers one of Tanzania’s most unique wildlife experiences, the chance to walk alongside giraffes in their natural environment. The centre is home to four resident giraffes and is dedicated to conservation, community education, and sustainable eco-farming.

Your visit begins with an introduction to the centre’s mission and interactive displays on wildlife, the environment, and regenerative agriculture. From there, you’ll embark on a guided bush walk through rewilded acacia woodlands, where giraffes roam freely. Depending on the season, you may also spot colourful birdlife, butterflies, insects, and wildflowers. With guides taking you within 10 metres of these gentle giants, it’s a rare opportunity to observe giraffes up close in a safe and respectful way.

For more information, you can visit the centre’s official website here or simply ask us at Oiti Boma Lodge, and we’ll be happy to arrange the visit for you.
Snake Park & Conservation Centre
Just 20 minutes from Oiti Boma Lodge lies one of Arusha’s most unique attractions: the famous Snake Park. Home to some of Tanzania’s most fascinating reptiles, this sanctuary gives you the chance to see a wide variety of snakes, lizards, crocodiles, and birds up close. Learn about their habitats, behaviors, and conservation efforts, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even hold a snake yourself! The Snake Park also plays an important role in education and awareness, making it both exciting and informative for visitors of all ages.

In addition to the reptile sanctuary, the same location is also home to a Maasai Cultural Centre, where you can gain an authentic introduction to Maasai traditions, heritage, and customs. Perfect for families, wildlife enthusiasts, and culture lovers, a visit to the Snake Park and Maasai Cultural Centre is an adventure you won’t want to miss during your stay in Arusha.
